When you think about 2021 coming to an end, what are some of the memories that come to mind? In hindsight, for me, it’s been a lot of lessons… positive lessons. On gratitude, on clarity of purpose, clarity of mind, introspection and finding my WHY. One of my friends has also taught me to enjoy and curate all the good memories of the year. He has a very interesting system of doing this; writing all the good memories in different coloured little notes and placing them in a jar. At the end of the year, he reads all little notes and always says he has a lot to be grateful for!
Isn’t that amazing! I mean, despite everything that has happened this year, there is a lot to be grateful for. In as much as we lost some things such as most of our old ways of living “freely” due to the pandemic, we gained even more. We have learned to extend more grace because we never know what someone is going through during this time, to be more sensitive and check up more on those we love and care for and to give everything our all and not take any moment for granted.
What are some of the things you have learned this year? How about you note them down on a piece of paper or even on your phone? Even better, during a family dinner or a night out with friends, go round the table and let each other know. You will not only get to be even more grateful or learn to do better but also see that some blessings you might consider little are other people’s big blessings. Personally, one general thing I have learnt is to be more intentional. With what I say and in how I act. This is just one of the lessons I am carrying forward into 2022.
Back to our list, as you note down the lessons what you can also do is see what quality to pick out from each of the lessons learnt. For example, if you noticed that your procrastination got you into a bit of trouble or made your schedule fly all over the place without order, a quality you can pick from that is to be more disciplined. As you write down the quality, practice a little bit of it every day and this will definitely form a core part of who you are, with consistency, it will all improve.
We hope you continue to enjoy the remaining days this year, and as 2022 approaches, may it bring you all the joy, favour, prosperity, and good energy to make it an amazing year. Go for everything your heart desires and carry with you kindness and good intentions!
