Advisory Board

Dr. Mbithe Anzaya

Chairperson

Dr. Mbithe Anzaya brings to the Board a depth of experience in Learning and Development combined with a passion for developing individual and team potential. She currently serves as head of learning and development at Kenya Airways, one of Africa’s leading airlines, which includes managing Kenya Airways’ Pride Training Centre, a premier regional aviation training hub serving airlines across the African continent.

Mbithe has consulted and developed training curricula for clients such as The World Bank Group, Goldman Sachs Investment Bank, Johnson & Johnson MDI, Africa Medical Research Foundation (AMREF), among other organisations. She served as an Assistant Professor of Management at the United States International University (USIU-Africa) where she also published numerous papers on business in Africa.

Currently, she serves as a member of the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council, an opt-in research community of business professionals and is a Certified Executive Coach by the Academy of Executive Coaching, AoEC (UK).

An academic and teacher at heart, Mbithe spends her free time building relationships with family and friends, as well as teaching and co-authoring books on parenting and living meaningfully.

Mumbi Gichuhi

Managing Director

Mumbi Gichuhi is the managing director of Epsilon Publishers. She is also the editor-in-chief of Prose Magazine, an in-house online publication of Epsilon Publishers. Her is passionate about influencing positive social change through the written word. She has over 15 years’ experience in publishing.

She has also undertaken several contract multi-disciplinary publications which have been presented in Kenya and around Africa including Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mauritius, Rwanda, South Africa and further afield, the United States and the Republic of Ireland.

Mumbi is also keen about working with the youth. Each year, she runs two internship programmes for young adults aimed at nurturing and developing their talent to enable them to be the best that they can be in their careers.

She has also been invited as a panelist and guest speaker on various forums, notably, on topics pertinent to women in leadership. Mumbi is a voracious reader and in her free time, she dances, plays piano, travels and plays the occasional round of golf.

Philip Gichuhi

Director

Philip Gichuhi is the Managing Director of Webhost Kenya Limited. He has steered and overseen the growth of Webhost Kenya over the last 14 years.

He is passionate about enabling businesses to embrace information systems that will help them grow in the digital space. He keenly follows the evolution of online technology from digital marketing to expert systems so as to be able to incorporate them in solutions for businesses. He brings to the board a wealth of experience in information technology.

In his free time, Philip enjoys reading, photography and the outdoors.

Rose Wahome

Board Member

Rose Wahome is Head of Human Resources for the general insurance business at UAP. Her key responsibilities are; strategic execution of talent management, compensation and benefits, learning and development, organisation design, performance management and employee engagement.

She has twelve years’ experience in human resources and administration management, six of which are in senior leadership roles.

She is also the chairperson of the UAP Staff Pension scheme and has spearheaded the successful conversion of the scheme from the defined benefit to the defined contribution scheme.

Peter Mugendi

Board Member

Peter is passionate about seeing businesses in Africa solve the most pressing challenges the continent faces through activation of faith in the market place. He is the founding Director of Zaka International and Africa Council for Accreditation and Accountability (AfCAA). He is the immediate former National Director for Transformational Business Network (TBN), an impact investment network. At TBN, Peter worked with growth-stage businesses, building their capacity and preparing them to access impact investment from the network. This way, businesses are facilitated to scale their impact across Africa.

Peter is an experienced executive who has previously served as CEO of Remu Microfinance Bank, CEO of VisionFund Kenya and held senior management positions at Barclays Africa and Sidian Bank. He holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics (University of Nairobi), an MBA (Finance) University of Nairobi, a Global Executive MBA from IESE Business School, Barcelona and completed executive education at Harvard Business School, MA and Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, Germany. Peter was a Top 40 under 40 men, awarded by Kenyan business daily in 2013.

Outside of work he serves on the boards of various non-profits and is actively involved in his local church.

Mary Wagura

Mary Wagura is the company’s Operations Manager. She is in charge of the company’s administration and operations. She drives initiatives geared towards operational excellence and implementation of best practices. Specifically, she manages and increases effectiveness and efficiency of Human Resource, Administration and Finance through process improvement of each function as well as coordination and communication between all business functions.

Mary is an excellent team player with well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal. She enjoys working in a diverse environment.

She also possesses excellent customer relations skills, more so, in her engagements with both the company’s customers and suppliers. This enables the company to develop tailor-made publishing packages for its customers and to maintain a solid relationship with its suppliers thus guaranteeing quality work and quick turn-around times for our clients.

Besides her professional concerns, she is also passionate in giving back to the community by offering assistance to children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Patrick Waswani

Head of Design and Production

Patrick is a creative and multi-talented communications expert, with over ten years’ work experience. With a background in graphic design, he has extensive experience in publication and print design.

Patrick has exceptional collaborative and interpersonal skills and is also a passionate creator of innovative publication designs. He is well adapted to performing in deadline-driven environments.

In his role as head of design and production at Epsilon Publishers, Patrick has successfully managed and coordinated editorial work from the raw manuscript, editing, design and layout through to complete publications.

He works closely with clients to create vision, conceive designs, and consistently meet deadlines and requirements. He is a dynamic team player who effectively builds, motivates, and directs design and production teams. He is able to coordinate designers, consultants and vendors to meet all project requirements. Patrick also manages operational and strategic functions at Epsilon Publishers.

Patrick has a penchant for reading and travel.

Mark Muthiora

Head of Editorial

Mark is a creative writer and editor with nine years’ experience in writing, editing and publishing. He is an excellent and versatile team player with well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal. He also has outstanding client relations and works well under pressure to adhere to the strict deadline that editorial work often demands. In addition to writing and editing, Mark is tasked with curating material for the company’s in-house magazine, Prose.

He also collaborates with other authors, editors and photographers in the course of publishing books, reports, policy briefs, magazines, newsletters, scripting for documentaries and article writing.

Mark has extensive knowledge of the African youth agenda. He has helped found and facilitated the growth of several youth groups and community-based organisations.

In this role, he has developed scripts and facilitated production of community theatre pieces, written songs, and mobilised the youth and community in various initiatives such as sexual and reproductive health, drug and substance abuse, and economic empowerment.

He runs a creative writing blog and is an avid reader.

Joyce Mbugu

Finance Manager

Joyce Mbugu oversees all financial functions in the company. She has over five years progressive experience in accounting and auditing having worked previously with an audit firm.

Joyce places a premium on teamwork and has a deep desire to positively impact the teams she works with.

She highly values honesty and integrity and is self-driven. She has strong interpersonal skills and excellent customer relations. She also has a passion for the girl child, more so, in matters education.
